Our Work
The Global Coalition on Migration (GCM) engages and mobilizes its members in global advocacy processes on migration governance and human rights. The Coalition addresses migration with an intersectional approach by collaborating on processes around labor rights, gender justice, sustainable development, climate justice and related thematic issues.
-
The global compact for migration is the first, intergovernmentally negotiated agreement, prepared under the auspices of the United Nations, to cover all dimensions of international migration in a holistic and comprehensive manner.
-
GFMD is a state-led, informal and non-binding process, which helps shape the global debate on migration and development.
-
Each year, the PGA convening brings together migrant rights groups in a movement building dialogue with trade unions and cross-sectoral social movement networks including those on climate and trade justice, gender justice, land rights and corporate accountability from around the world.
-
GCM members from across global regions and sectors have been engaging in a strategic planning process from 2018-2019 to develop a plan of action that aims to strengthen the future of migrant rights and migrant-led global advocacy.
-
Over 120 Global Coalition on Migration members from across multiple regions were on the ground from beginning to end throughout Migration Week in Marrakech – a historic occasion that saw the largest convening of governments and civil society representatives and other stakeholders on addressing the future of international migration.
